Shootout At The RS2K Corral - The Rematch

Well, it looks as though seantoo and I managed to make it to the finals again this year, both surviving nip-and-tuck battles in the semis. seantoo, I was actually feeling sorry for you earlier in the week, when SRYD held an 8-0 lead, a seeming insurmountable obstacle. I should have known better. A few key performances by some of your players (such as SRYD nemesis Pat Burrell), and the absolute collapse of SRYD's offense (save Eric Chavez) turned the tide. As for me, I am extremely fortunate to have escaped with a 6-4 victory. What saved me from losing a 5-5 match on the dreaded tiebreaker was a big offensive performance on Sunday, and Clement's two terrible performances (I feel almost dirty winning because of the massive failure of a Sox player). Anyway, it'll be a furious two weeks, and hopefully won't be a walkover either way. One warning to you though seantoo - if you manage to beat me because of a huge two weeks by Barry Bonds, I'm going to be unhappy. VERY UNHAPPY! The damn steroid freak goes and gets himself reinjured on the day I draft him, forcing me to keep him on my DL all season (which caused me to lose the chance to get several players). Then in August, word comes from the Bonds camp that Barry won't be returning this year. "OK," I think, "I could use that roster spot, and it's safe to drop him now." Well, sure enough, the next day, he reverses field and says he will try to return. And seantoo, opportunist that he is, swooped in to pluck him off the waiver wire. In other fantasy news, I will be defending the honor of the RedSox2000 board as I complete for the championship in the SoSH league that I'm in. I finished 3rd in a 20 team league (Yahoo, all MLB, head-to-head, 15 category), and just had an amazing turnaround on Sunday, beating the #2 team 8-4 after being down 7-6 on Saturday (and losing on the tiebreaker). A huge offensive day, keyed by several last minute player acquisitions, turned the tide. Things look pretty good for the finals too, as the #4 team upset the #1 team, and I match up much better against that team.

I learned from the best Bob (Barnes etc.) Seriously, I was about to write a congratulations to SYRD when my team suddenly performed great just as his tanked so that entering Sunday I was sure I SHOULD win going away. During the offweak I had 40+runs 16 homeruns and 50 yes 50 RBI's so I thought I had exhausted their output for when it matters. Bob you have owned me all year (3 of the 5 head to head losses have been to you) so I'll be fortunate to take you especially since I lost Holliday, Sheets and Harden 3 potential aces the week before the playoffs start, who survives that? Goodluck.
