Hey NSD, I haven't tried the program that you and Guru have. Not yet anyway. However, I DID find a really neat avatar that is the CORRECT size, but I couldn't get it to work. Could it be that the avatar I chose is an animated one??? Can we NOT use an animated avatar? As I mentioned earlier in this thread, when I go to "Profile" the avatar stuff is at the bottom of that page. I hit the Browse button and it opens My Pictures. When I double click on the picture I want, it puts THAT "file" info into the space to the left of the Browse button. Then I go to the very bottom and hit SUBMIT. It does NOTHING. And why is it when you put your pointer OVER the SUBMIT button, it REMAINS an arrow? I don't get the little pointer finger? Does this portion of the PROFILE have some sort of problem going on? Oh, wait a minute. It CAN'T be a problem with that because you just put YOUR avatar there with NO problem. I'm SO confused. NEAT avatar by the way NSD!!! Robin

Is the image size on the disk small enough? Sometimes animated images can get big in a hurry. If you look at it in a folder on your computer, make sure it says the size is less than 24K.

I played around with my avatar alot, and my new "friend" became the little blurb the website gave me after I hit submit. After you hit browse and go to my pictures, don't double click on the file you want, just click once on it to select it, then hit "Open" ( I think its "open" ) on your window that opened to do the browsing ( the Open button should be in the lower right hand corner next to "Cancel" ). That should then bring you back to this board's profile page with the avatar jazz at the bottom, and in the Browse box, there should be a bunch of text that basically means...."go get this file from My Pics." Then at the bottom of the profile page, hit Submit. Now comes the fun part. After you hit submit, a new screen should come up. If it worked, it should say something to that effect. If it didn't work, it should bring you right back to the profile page, but at the top of the page it will tell you what is wrong "pic needs to be less then 24KB and/or pic needs to be less then 100 x 100 pixels" Hope that helps, but you may have some weirdness going on with the Direct TV that I'm totally missing. Can you even tell what my avatar is ? I think I need to zoom in more and maybe just get Homer and MB

Check it out NSD. It worked!!!! Thank you a gazillion!!!! I did exactly what you said to do and ta da, there it is!!!! This isn't quite the avatar I was "planning" on using, but I still don't know how to resize images, so I found this particular avatar by doing an avatar seach on Google. I have that site that Guru told me about. It's the same one you have, but I haven't really checked it out yet. I believe the program on that site has to be downloaded and I don't want to make any mistakes with that. By the way, I have an actual computer these days. No more Webtv. I think that's what you were referring to in your last post. You said something about Direct TV, and I'm thinking you actually meant Webtv. Your avatar looks like Homer Simpson and a bunch of others, possibly wearing baseball uniforms? At first glance it looked like an "old timer" baseball team, but when I looked closer (and I mean MUCH closer) I swear I saw Homer Simpson. Am I right? Oh, and I noticed that after I added my avatar, it showed up on previous posts too. I wasn't expecting that. Pretty neat!!!! Thanks again NSD, and GuruGreg and rs for the help. VERY MUCH appreciated. Robin

Hey Robin, That´s from one of the most entertaining Simpsons episodes ever, Homer at the Bat...the rest of the players were real players at the time, Griffey Junior, Canseco, Clemens, Strawberry. a quick google brought this up: http://www.sportspage43.com/e_article000139270.cfm The song that ended the episode was just great too. http://www.leoslyrics.com/listlyrics.php?hid=YmqKEwwxWP0%3D
Well Mr. Burns had done it, The power plant had won it, With Roger Clemens clucking all the while, Mike Scioscia's tragic illness made us smile, While Wade Boggs lay unconscious on the barroom tile... We're talkin' softball... From Maine to San Diego. Talkin' softball... Mattingly and Canseco. Ken Griffey's grotesquely swollen jaw. Steve Sax and his run-in with the law. We're talkin' Homer... Ozzie and the Straw. We're talkin' softball... From Maine to San Diego. Talkin' softball... Mattingly and Canseco. Ken Griffey's grotesquely swollen jaw. Steve Sax and his run-in with the law. We're talkin' Homer... Ozzie and the Straw.

NSD's avatar is the Simpson's softball team picture. I think it's the episode when Burns wanted to win the softball tournament so he brought in a bunch of MLB players like Strawberry and others, can't remember anymore. Homer was the star of the old team and wasn't going to get on the new team of ringers. He made the team somehow, got in the final game and won the game by getting hit by a pitch in the head. The pic in the avatar was taken right at the end of the episode. I haven't seen that one in a long time, but I think that is how it went. My RedSox2000 fantasy baseball team is named HomerJ and guru come up with the 3D Homer in uniform for my logo/avatar. missed wampaones post.. oops

yeah, there was a Simpsons episode where Mr. Burns made a bet with a rival nuclear power plant regarding their company's softball teams. So Mr. Burns gets rid of his "regular" players and hires a bunch of MLBers as employees who then are FORCED to sign up for the company softball team....which, as you can imagine, improves Burns' chances of winning. Players in the episode that I can remember ( basically all of the MLB guys get into some trouble that prevents them from making the game ) : Mike Scoscia ( lol...he gets in trouble with the police at one point and asks for his one phone call and they say "you watch too many movies Scoscia"....lol ) Ken Griffey ( gets addicted to brain tonic and his head grows enormous ) Don Mattingly ( burns keeps asking him to cut his sideburns, lol, but burns doesn't know what sideburns are and mattingly shaves his head and burns still yells at him....lol....I'm rolling right now ) Darryl Strawberry ( the only MLB guy who doesn't fall into some situation ....so all the regular power plant guys get to play but for the guy whose spot is filled by Strawberry, yup, that guy is Homer ) Steve Sax ( loves working at the power plant because the pressures of baseball aren't present. He spills a bunch of nuclear waste and gets worried, and someone says 'Oh don't worry about that' and Sax gets a big grin on his face and goes "oh man, I love this place"....lol ! ) Ozzy Smith ( falls into a carnival attraction called the bottomless pit or something....keeps taking pictures with his camera as he is falling ) Roger Clemens ( lol....hilarious. He gets hypnotized and acts like a chicken and can't pitch ) lol...."you watch too many movies Scoscia".....my favorite line of the episode. I think there are a few more players, but that is the jist. As you can tell the Simpsons is my favorite thing on TV. Oh, and Homer wins the game on a 9th inning HR because Burns pinch hits him for Strawberry for absolutely no reason ( Strawberry -- but skip, I already have 5 HRs today -- lol ! )

My favorite part of this fantastic episode are the rules of Springfield Softball: Umpire: Okay, let's go over the ground rules. You can't leave first until you chug a beer. Any man scoring has to chug a beer. You have to chug a beer at the top of all odd-numbered innings. Oh, and the fourth inning is the beer inning. Chief Wiggum: [in baseball uniform] Hey, we know how to play softball. I might put this on the main board just so everyone sees it.

Sounds like that was a GREAT episode. Unfortunately, I never saw it. I haven't watched the Simpsons since my son was a little kid. And he's now 25, so that tells you how LONG that show has been on the air. Robin
