always good to see the likes of Bernie Mac and assorted celebrities in the crowd, occupying some of the best seats in the house. gives the game that all-American, national pastime feel -TV and movie stars just kicking back with the ordinary folk who pay an arm and a leg for their tickets. nice to hear McCarver waxing on and waxing off about the subtlties of being a major league catcher; if anyone deserved that "tools of ignorance" sobriquet, he does. at least Buck being Buck is palatable, although i wish they would both just shut the hell up for a minute so i can enjoy the game. and those ground cameras in front of the batter's box reveal WHAT key aspect of the game i've been missing all these years? talk about a ground-level view! -i often wonder if there isn't a tiny little set of bleachers down there on the playing field, filled with bugs and beetles and worms cheering their favorite team on? and what's next? -a close-up shot of celebrity worms sitting down front? or five beetles standing up, with the letters G-O S-O-X painted white on their bellies? why not just give every player a head-cam so that we, at home, can be THAT player running the bases, hitting a homer, making a great catch? interactive TV. you press a button on your Game Boy remote... and you're Roger Clemens throwing a third strike or Rowand leaping above the fence to rob Berkman of a home run! one final observation: what is the purpose of miking (sp?) the manager for those 2-minute chats in the dugout? the guy's trying to manage a very important World Series game. this up-close-and-personal stuff is so out of control. i'd rather the booth hook up with a fat, beer-drinking bug and get his take on Bagwell swinging the bat with a sore shoulder. know what i mean?

I just saw a news blurb that said Clemons is injured. Didn't get the details though.
